Throw a Western Shower Throw a Western Shower

Saddle up your horses and ride on in for some good ole western fun!
When planning a baby shower or baby or toddlers birthday party a theme is always a good way to go.  When it comes to birthday parties, the little boy and girls love to pretend, so playing cowboy or cowgirl is a great way to throw a party.
We decided to compile some ideas on how to pull off a western party.

Start off with a Bang!

Invitations are a fun memorable way to let those invited know what kind of party you are throwing.
It’s always great to start with some cowboy verbiage like

A diaper round up ...

Come Kick up yor heels...

Grab your partner...

Set the Mood Corral Style...

Decorations:
Party decorations can be horses, cows, barns, twine, hay bails, cowboy hats, cacti and even a corral to border the walls of theyour cowboy/cowgirl themed venue. These can be made from cardboard and easily stuck on the walls of the venue. Table centerpieces can be real cacti plants, cowboy boot flower vases, specialty shaped confetti. Other ideas for a table centerpiece for your western theme baby shower are a cardboard cowboy either standing or on a horse.

Come and Get Um...

To make your diaper round up tasty as well as fun, you can serve things like  western style with cornbread, chicken wings, potatoes, chips and salsa, chili, stew, barbeque meats, and fire-roasted veggies. You can also give the shower an old fashioned touch with homemade root beer or ice cream or spice it up with a salsa bar with different kinds of salsa. Your guests will come and have a great time, and get to eat well, too! The food alone will make everyone come, and when the theme happens to be fun there no reason not to attend! Plan for a full house for your cowboy or cowgirl event.

Have a Hoe Down...

Parties are always better when there are activities.

For the Baby shower consider

Cowboy Hat Toss- Give your guests a try at throwing a cowboy hat in the style of the Old West. They can try their luck at tossing the cowboy hat onto baby bottles. If they actually land on one...they get a prize.

Bloomers Game- Wrap a beautifully girly box and pass around the room to cowboy music. Let everyone know that the gift box contains bloomers and whoever ends up with the box at the end will have to wear the bloomers.(This is a gag game, so the person who opens the box will find a flower corsage to wear. )

Cowboy Training- Time to domesticate your cowboys. This game will help get rid of the bow legged walk. Use a balloon filled with air for guests to place in between their knees (a water balloon can be used if outside). Have guests race from one point to another. (The first person to finish with the balloon still intact wins a prize.)

Stick Horse Race- If you are throwning a birthday party or will have lil cowboys and cowgirl attending your shower you may want to conider a horse stick race, you can go all in and get the stuffed head horse stciks or can just purchase some sticks at the hardware store and stuff the tops with stuffing filled socks that you decorate with horse faces.
